My Theme Song

The other day I heard this song on the radio, and I was like, “daaaaaaaaaang.” Because as I was listening to the lyrics, I got this surge of inspiration. Literally, I felt like I could do anything and be anything as I listened to this song. So, as of the moment I heard it a few weeks ago, I decided that it’s going to be my theme song for life. Here’s a few of the lyrics that I want to highlight…

Half the population just waiting to see me fail
Yeah, right, you better off trying to freeze hell

Until the referee rings the bell
Until both your eyes start to swell
Until the crowd goes home
What we gonna do ya’ll?

Give ’em hell, turn their heads

If you fall pick yourself up off the floor
And when your bones can’t take no more
Just remember what you’re here for
‘Cause I know I’ma damn sure

Give ’em hell, turn their heads

That lyrics quote comes from the song “The Fighter” by Gym Class Heroes. Seriously, though. Go listen to the song. It’s incredible.

Do you ever get into a funk, and it feels like you can’t get anything right? Every once in a while, I have a really bad day. I’m clumsy as it is, but on those days, it seems like I literally trip over everything in sight. And it seems like everything everybody says is a personal jab at me, so I hit my breaking point. By the end of the day, I’m bawling my eyes out because I’m so stressed, I’ve got half a dozen bruises, and I just want the ground to swallow me up. Those days are horrible. It’s times like that when I open one of the stories I’m working on, hoping to work out some of my frustration via Microsoft Word, and I end up deleting entire stories because I’m just so frustrated.

Needless to say, the following day, I have a lot of regrets.

But the thing is, I know a lot of what happens to me on those days is so petty in comparison to some people’s lives. This song only continues to help me realize that. At the same time, though, it reminds me that no matter how hard the day was, I got through it, and I can get through worse. I’m feeling pretty philosophical right about now. And I’m also a little bit slap happy, which might be why I’m making all these incredible revelations. Hah, in the morning, I’ll probably log on and read this, and I’ll think I was drunk or something.

I don’t drink, by the way. Just a side note, in case you were confused. I’m just extremely tired.

So, anywho… buhbye!

xx Ashley
